Message from Site Curator - Keith.S
Latest message (21st December 2005)
The last two articles to be added to the
website have both created much interest, thanks to Bob
Bogan and Terry Joll, this has resulted in me receiving
many emails mostly very polite and enjoyable to read.
The next SCLI LI reunion at Taunton April
22nd 2006 should be a memorable occassion as I am trying
to contact all members of the Recce Platoon Aden 1966,
Bob Bogan BEM MSM will hopefully be travelling from Durham
with a special purpose in mind (more of that later), so
it will be a golden opportunity to see all the Recce back
together, and it will be for the last time.
This just leaves me with the honour of wishing
you all a very Happy Christmas and good Cheer.
From the team Keith, Peter, Mike and Dave.
Message (27th November 2005)
The latest addition to the site is the Bob
Bogan article, which many of you have already written
to me about with messages to pass to Bob.
I have again as always to thank you all
for huge support, it is good to get feedback and to know
that the material is giving a lot of pleasure.
Presently a lot of time is being devoted
to this problem of THE RIFLES, which will be resolved
in Jan 12th 2006 when General Brims makes his visit to
Taunton. I will endeavour to pass on news which comes
my way.
My good wishes to you all. KEITH. PETER
MIKE & DAVE.
Taunton 2005
Well I don't know about you but I thought
the reunion was superb, atmosphere was great. I particularly
want to thank you all for the support you gave me in my
pestering for material and a big thank you to John Pover
for his set up on that lap top which helped generate interest
for this website, also to Lawrie on the desk (Ex regt
police).
Please excuse if I miss anybody out but
I will tell you how things are progressing:
It was good to meet Ted Ley and his wife,
they are going to send me a tribute re Pte Oakley which
will go on the Aden page.
Johnny Welsh gave me lots of pics to copy,
to meet that guy after 43 years was amazing and I don't
know what he's on but I must get some!!!
Tom (Thomas McHale) also gave me lots of
pics to keep me busy. Mike Pruett and I will make up galleries
of all these and John Pover suggested we rotate them to
keep up interest, a good idea.
Brigadier Alastair Fyfe has written a foreword
for the Homepage, I am really pleased about this as it
gives the site some importance and to come from such a
respected man, just brilliant. There will be news later
on of the SCLI book which is being produced.
Col Eliot has and is most helpful and interested,
he has supplied a superb image for the site of the 1962
Colours, I have also arranged with him to spend more time
in the archives room at Taunton.
Col D Farrant had long chat to me telling
me how interested he was and he says he has lots of material
which he will turn out, he's busy at present but will
get around to it.
My thanks to all who have supplied material
and all those who have said they will contribute, if you
are sending photo's to me please write on the back of
each image, location and any other details remembered,
this will be a great help.
I must mention Duncan Drake in New Zealand
who wrote the initial text for many of the pages, he is
just one of a growing number of helpers who respond to
my enquiring Emails on a particular point and who give
their time quite willingly , the regimental spirit does
truly live on.
So there we are another year gone by and
2 people have already Emailed me to say they look forward
to next year !!! Please visit the website often as pages
and updates are being added all the time and you may even
see yourself.
If you want to visit my other huge tri-service

Here are some pictures from the Somerset
& Cornwall Light Infantry Reunion at Taunton, Somerset
23 April 2005. More will be added, if you want to see
yours up on this page, please do send them in. |
