Due to the sheer
size of the pages and the number of images, we are rebuilding
the site so that this will become the index page for Band/Bugles.
The galleries will now have their own pages, however there
is still interesting material here before you go to the galleries.
"Queen & Prince" by Major Young.
This march was composed for the Somerset and
Cornwall Light Infantry by Major Alfred Young, then Director
of Music of the Royal Signals, who had been the battalion
bandmaster. It is technically difficult, has been played rarely
and so is little known. It shows how the Band and Bugles complement
each other perfectly.

Not just Musicians
The Band and Bugles are not just ceremonial
soldiers, enlisted only as musicians. All bandsmen are trained
as medical assistants, which role they would fill in war,
and the Bugle Platoon is a fully operational rifle platoon.
It has been employed as such, on active service, in the recent
past.
Trevor Nottingham was the first contributor
to this page and has sent a picture of the Laying up of the
Colours at Truro Cathedral, the SCLI Band Berlin and the Parade
Juni Strasse Berlin.
Pictures below are from Trevor Nottingham, Phil
Ashworth, John Pover and LI Som.Office.
