Why did we have horses? At that time all horses in Norway did national service and were used to haul guns, ammo, weapons and supplies. Very often in deep snow they jumped their way through the snow as normal walking was impossible. The sledges may appear small but you have to remember the terrain in Norway is not noted for flat rolling plains. [Ernie Lethbridge]
